Michael Budenholzer, ATL Hawks Head Coach Pleads not Guilty to Pending DUI Charge in Georgia.
Michael Budenholzer, Atlanta Haw head coach was arrested for a DUI and is pleading not guilty to the pending charge. It was reported that Budenholzer was arrested in Atlanta around 10:30 pm Wednesday. A state trooper pulled him over after realizing his car had a broken taillight. The trooper said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Budenholzer's breath and he was then asked to perform a series of sobriety tests and a breathalyzer.
Budenholzer did the sobriety tests and cops said he failed miserably, but the head coach refused to take the breathalyzer. He did however admit to having one glass of wine earlier that day, but the refusal of the breathalyzer landed him straight behind bars. He was released from jail 5 hours later at 3:45 am.
After his release Budenholzer went to the hospital and had a blood test that showed his B.A.C. was > .01, which is why he is pleading not guilty. Budenholzer released the following statement,
"I apologize to the fans and to the Hawks organization for any negative attention this incident has brought upon my family and the organization while the legal process evolves and I contest these misdemeanor charges."
