Michael Jordan's First Basket at North Carolina, Announcers Call Him 'Mike', Watch Super RARE Footage Here (VIDEO)

Michael Jordan is the most influential sports athlete of the past 25 years, if not all-time.

He was everywhere in his playing days on commercials, videos, movies and endless highlight reels. So it is very rare when video footage pops up that MJ fans haven't seen a thousand times before.

The video above was from Michael Jordan's first game starting for North Carolina. We are all used to seeing his famous shot that won the National Championship for the Tarheels but this was before all of that.

The video shows the TarHeels starting line ups and the sports announcers calling the game didn't even call him Michael yet, just "Mike". We get to see Jordan's first shot attempt (a miss) and then his first made basket, a short baseline jumper.

The video is from 1981 and North Carolina went on to be Kansas 74-67.

In the video we are able to see a star before the star is born, which is always fascinating. You get to see all of the people around him that had no idea what was going to come.

The grainy footage makes the video even that much more like a hidden gem.

Michael Jordan was the biggest thing all around the world when he hit his height in the 90's with the two 3-peats with the Bulls and with his appearance on the Dream Team.

This was before the era of social media. He didn't need it and he still doesn't. Michael Jordan the brand and his 'jumpman' logo is still one of the most well known in the world .

It was nice to see "Mike" before the Michael 'Air' Jordan that we all grew to love.
