Michael W. Smith's 'Sovereign' Draws Praise After Release; New Worship Album Lands Him on Fox News and Time Magazine (VIDEO)
Yesterday multi Dove and Grammy Award winner Michael W. Smith released Sovereign, his first studio worship album since 2008, and his record with Sparrow Records and Capitol Christian Music Group.
This week he along with Amy Grant were honored at ASCAP's 100th Anniversary as a "cornerstone of Christian music." Riding the wave of an excellent week for the artist, Smith will begin touring in support of Sovereign and his new hit single "You Won't Let Go."
Watch the single below:
He has already made appearances at Fox News Channel's shows Hannity and Huckabee, as well as Sean Hannity's, FoxNewsChannel.com's "Spirited Debate," and 100 Huntley Street across the U.S. and Canada.
Smith also recently wore a piece for Time.com in which he spoke about the meaning behind Sovereign in a personal piece that can be read here.
Sovereign is also available in a Deluxe Edition, which includes a special DVD concert filmed at Smith's barn in Franklin, Tenn. and features guest appearances from Kari Jobe and Leeland Mooring. The DVD also includes special behind the scenes footage and content with Smith discussing the inspiration behind Sovereign.
"Sovereign, it gracefully swims between Christian contemporary and worship music. He updates his signature pop rock sound by taking cues from the folk rock trend. The album is a musical journey reflecting our search for God and that God will always be there to guide us like He guided the Israelites out of Egypt with a pillar of fire through the night," an earlier BreatheCast's review of the album read.
