Rumors and news reports have been quiet on the Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date and it seems people will just have to wait a few more weeks for any word on the expected new laptop.

Most tech websites agree with rumors that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will feature the new Kaby Lake processor from Intel, which is touted to be more powerful compared to Skylake-even if built on the same 14nm architecture-with low power requirements.

Some news websites also agree that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will run a new Windows 10 build, dubbed "Redstone 2," and that update will not arrive until spring of next year. However, Microsoft could preempt the OS and release the laptop earlier than scheduled. Users could then just update the OS later on.

Ahead of the release date, there have been rumors that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will ditch the weird design of the previous laptop and replace it with what it calls a dynamic fulcrum hinge. It has supposedly enough traction and weight to hold the 13.5-inch display, and also link it to the keyboard dock where the dedicated graphics card is located.

As for specs, the Surface Book 2 is expected to feature better screen compared to its predecessor. The original Surface Book features the Intel HD graphics 520 GPU with a 267ppi pixel density and 3000x2000 resolution. The new laptop is expected to bump the resolution up to 4K, or 4096x2160.
