The Motorola Droid Maxx, which was released last year, is undoubtedly stands out from the remaining Motorola line-up, as it has a solid build and comes with an incredibly long-lasting battery. In fact, it is even said to be one of the best smartphones Verizon has ever offered.

An oversized Android phablet, the Motorola Droid Maxx is offered exclusively by Verizon and is very likely to receive an upgrade this year. In fact, latest reports speculate that an upgrade maybe coming very soon. According to PhoneArena, these new Motorola handsets could be announced sometime by September.

As per the speculations, if there is only one upgrade, it could be the camera sensors, which is currently at 10MP.

The Motorola Droid Maxx has a 5-inch display, 10MP camera and under the hood, a dual-core processor that clocks in at 1.7 GHz and powered with 2GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and has a battery life of 3,500 mAh.

As far as the screen is concerned, 5-inch AMOLED display of the Motorola Droid Maxx has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 294 ppi is bright and saturated enough for a good viewing experience. However, it doesn't do well under daylight.

Even a quick look at the Motorola Droid Maxx will instantly confirm that this handset is a tough cookie. This Android phablet measures 5.41 inches x 2.80 inches x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.89 ounces. It is a heavy-duty handset that comes with an attractive Kevlar back and on the whole has a soft-touch finishing that camouflages fingerprints and offers a better grip and an additional premium feel.

The handset is significantly heavy owing to its whopping 3,500 mAh battery, which is said to be the largest battery for any smartphone. In other words, it has more battery life for a prolonged usage. Motorola claims that the smartphone can live up to 48 hours of "mixed usage."

However, the major problem with this smartphone is the absence of a SD card slot, which means you will be stuck with 32 GB worth of internal storage.
