Netflix New Original Series 'Derek' Premieres Today in the USA in its Entirety 

Netflix's new original series "Derek" is currently available in its entirety for streaming from Netflix. The series follows a man named Derek, played by Ricky Gervais, as he navigates his life at an old folks' home. The audience soon begins to realize that Derek may be slightly mentally handicapped as he has trouble coping with complex social situations and asks awkward questions frequently. Gervais asserts that Derek is simply "slow" and "naïve" not mentally challenged. A common theme in the show is constant suspicion that he needs mental help. Strangers in bars and other social settings often suggest that he be tested for autism.

The Netflix premiere is much different than the conventional TV premiere of a show. Netflix releases all of the episodes of a show in the season at one time, allowing for a "binge watching" experience for the viewer. This strategy has worked well for Netflix with shows such as "Arrested Development" and "House of Cards." The premiere of "Derek" has been no different.
