New England Patriots Drop Tim Tebow From Their Roster.
The New England Patriots have released Tim Tebow. Tebow signed a 2-year contract with the Patriots in June of 2011; subsequently Tebow has been cut from their roster for failing to impress head coach Bill Belichick. The 2-year contract Tebow signed had no guarantees.
It's such a surprise to fans because just two seasons ago Tebow was one of league's most popular players. Tebow has won two national titles while at Florida, and is the only Quarter Back who received a Heisman award that won a NFL playoff game! Tebow has talent, but obviously not enough. In three preseason appearances, he was 11-of-30 passing for 145 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
If a team is interested in picking up Tebow he will have a minimum base salary of $630,000 and is subject to waivers. It's hard to tell if Tebow will be picked up by another team due to his track record. The Denver Broncos traded him to the New York Jets in March of 2012. While playing for the Jets he threw only eight passes and was then cut that April and signed with the Patriots.
