Nexus 10 2 Release Date Rumors: Launch at Google I/O 2014?

Google might be falling short when it comes to the Nexus 10 2 and its anticipated release on the market. Initial rumors said that the Mountain View tech giant had plans of unveiling its next-generation tablet sometime this year, but Google has not yet released any official news.

Following Google I/O Conference 2014 on June 25, tech geeks are expecting an all-out presentation of the next-generation Nexus gadgets including Nexus 6, 8, and 10 2. Basing on its predecessor's specifications, Nexus 10 2 might feature a 10.1-inch 2560x1600 resolution display including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, and the latest version of Android, Tech Radar reported.

Google's anticipated latest tablet offering is also rumored to boast an 8-megapixel rear camera, which is standard to high-end gadgets today, a 2.1-megapixel front camera, at least 3 GB of RAM, and Adreno 330 GPU. Unfortunately, unconfirmed sources reveal that Google might opt not to release Nexus 10 2 anymore as it is gearing more towards Android Silver Program, Business Insider reported.

Android Silver Program is designed to produce smartphones, tablets, and accessories that are highly-competitive with brands such as Apple and Samsung. Experts say that Google might officially announce its new flagship brand early 2015.

If Google will proceed with Nexus 10 2, it is unlikely that Samsung Electronics will produce the product. Recent news teased that Asus, HTC, and LG are vying for the spot though Google has not yet confirmed nor denied the speculations.

Google I/O 2014 will run from June 25 to 26 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
