NFL News and Rumors: This Might Be Jay Cutler's Final Season in Chicago Bears?
Rumors are swirling around that Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has already taken his last snap as a member of the team. The Chicago Bears have disappointed its supporters in their first two games this season, especially Cutler. There are rumors that due to his poor performance, this might be the last season that he will get to wear a Bears uniform.
Fox Sports' Dieter Kurtenbach believes that releasing Cutler before the opening of the next season will save Chicago Bears as much as $71 million. In 2014, the 33-year-old quarterback inked a seven-year, $126 million contract with $54 million guaranteed money.
Even avid Cutler supporter Skip Bayless, who has been with Cutler since he played for the Vanderbilt Commodores, recently expressed his disappointment with the Chicago Bears player. In an interview with "Skip and Shannon: Undisputed," the 64-year-old Bayless said he had already given up on the quarterback.
"That was so humiliating for every Bears fans, every Vanderbilt Commodore fan," he said.
"I know it's always something. Now it's the thumb injury. I don't want to hear it anymore. I'm done with Jay Cutler," he added.
Amidst the rumors, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh stood up for the Bears quarterback and defended him from his critics. Harbaugh, who has worked with Cutler during his camps, said in a recent interview with "The Dan Patrick Show" that Cutler was a hardworking and outstanding player.
"You don't know somebody unless you know them," he said.
NFL.com had previously reported that Cutler had suffered a right thumb sprain and would miss Week 3.
