NHL Rumors & News: Vladimir Sobotka Coming Back To The Blues? Oilers Eyeing On Kris Russell?

New rumors on NHL have surfaced and as per reports, St. Louis Blues' Vladimir Sobotka has vowed to return to the Blues in 2016-17 while the Oilers are reportedly eyeing on Kris Russell.

Sobotka promised to come back to the Blues for the 2016-17 season, My NHL Trade Rumors has learned. However, the issue with regard Sobotka's promise is that his KHL team, Omsk Avangard, claims that he is still under contract with them.

As per the publication, Sobotka and the Blues were at $300,000 difference when the former opted to go for KHL. It is added that the athlete changed agents twice before the 2014-15 season. As per reports, Sobotka desires at least $3 million in the first year of the the contract, which is set to increase in the following season.

Sobotka's return to the Blues may not totally transpire, as the athlete is under contract with Omsk Avangard. As per the publication, the Blue could have a deal with the Rangers such as Kevin Shattenkirk or winger Rick Nash, who has a $7.8 million cat hit. It is added that the savings on not acquiring Sobotka could make up the difference between the salary of the said Ranger atheles.

In other news, the Oilers is reportedly eyeing on free agent defenseman Kris Russel. In a statement, as cited by My NHL Trade Rumors, sports commentator Bob Mckenzie said that Russel probably would be a decent fit for the team, especially on a short term deal.

According to Mckenzie, it was not absolute given, but he would not be surprised if the play signed a one-year contract. He also said he was guessing and he had got to figure that it was going to be worth somewhere between $4-5 million dollars a year.

"No, he was a guy that was in July probably looking for at least a five-year deal at $5 million or more. That's certainly, In think, what he was looking for from the Calgary Flames to re-up last year before they traded him to Dallas," McKenzie said.
