Nintendo Switch Amiibo Support News & Update: Trailer Confirms Support For The Popular Figures?

Speculation about the Nintendo Switch Amiibo support was first raised when the recently released trailer showed some of the figures like Bowser, Peach and Yoshi can be found underneath the large TV screen.

Amiibo refers the very popular figures which uses RFID technology to store data or relevant statistics of the character. In Q1 of 2017, for example, the company already rolled out 24.7 million of these Amiibo characters. It's compatible with the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and now Switch.

A spokesperson for the Japanese company confirmed to Gamespot the Nintendo Switch Amiibo support.

"Absolutely. If a Nintendo Switch game supports Amiibo, then the Nintendo Switch home gaming system will as well," the representative allegedly said.

In related news, aside from the Amiibo support on the Nintendo Switch, the new console is reportedly designed for a single-screen gameplay. Whether or not that will impact on the number of games that third-party developer will make for Nintendo is not clear at this point.

"Nintendo Switch is dedicated to deliver a single-screen experience, on whatever screen you might choose," the company said.

For now, there's no word on what games will include the Nintendo Switch Amiibo support, although judging from the hype, it's more than likely that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" would be right up there. Also, the previously unseen Super Mario game 3D which was teased on the trailer might also be included.

We will just have to wait for more news on the Nintendo Switch Amiibo support, which won't probably come until next year.
