The Evil Queen's plan to threaten Storybrooke finally came to fruition in episode 2 of "Once Upon A Time" season 6.

As the people of Storybrooke help the refugees from the Land of Untold Stories, Regina addresses the crew at Granny's, saying that she has already changed and is more than willing to help them overcome the hurdle. Afterward, Henry meets a young man who leaves behind a wax-sealed envelope. As he decides to guess the identity of the man, Charming opens the envelope and learns that it is the Count of Monte Cristo. Regina then warns David and Snow that she hired to Count to kill them.

It can be recalled that the Evil Queen previously offered the Count a deal: a list of all the people involved in his bad fortune in exchange for him killing the Charmings for her.

In Storyrooke, Emma tries to save her parents from their assailant by driving them out of town, only to discover that Storybrooke is under Regina's protection spell. Later on, Regina finds Charlotte, the maiden who reminds the Count of his dead fiancée, now dead in the woods. Regina cackles over the fact that she is able to control the Count because he wants to protect Regina, not knowing that she is already dead.

Meanwhile, the Charmings battle out on the docks with the Count, who tells them that the Evil Queen is controlling him. As he goes in for the kill, Regina arrives to stop him and asks him to spare the Charmings. When she realizes she cannot stop him, Regina kills him with her sword. The Evil Queen then shows up to reveal that the plan was never for the Count to kill the Charmings, but for Regina to kill the Count. Towards the end, the Evil Queen says, "We all have stories we don't want told," and teases that it is Regina who will destroy their happy endings.

In the end, David receives a gift from the Evil Queen, a coin that his father was wearing around his wrist when he died in a car accident. "Are you sure it was an accident?" the baleful sorceress says aloud.
