'Orange is the New Black' Season 2 Cast: Netflix Denies Rumors Laura Prepon Is Leaving Series / 2014 Premiere? [TRAILER]

After just one season Orange is the New Black is already one of the most-talked about shows of the year. Production for Season 2 is reportedly underway. However, the entire Season 1 cast may not be returning for the new batch of episodes, according to some online rumors.

According to a report from BuzzFeed, Laura Prepon will not be a regular in Season 2. A source close to the show told TVGuide that the character's storyline will be closed in the new episodes. The same source also confirmed that Prepon hasn't even been on since filming for Season 2 began.

So far Prepon has yet to comment. Meanwhile Netflix denies the rumors.

"Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed," Netflix said in a statement according to The Huffington Post.

Whether you love Prepon's character, Alex Vause, her absence from Season 2 would be a stretch for the storyline. Being a central character in Season 1, how would the show deal with writing her off? She still has a lot of time left on her prison sentence.

Would she be moved to a different prison? Would Pennsatuckney kill her?

If rumors are true, Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan will have to do some damage control for viewers who may feel alienated after losing one of their favorite characters.
