OS X Yosemite Release Date: Launch Set October 2014: OS X Beta Details
Apple's new operating system for Mac, the OS X Yosemite, might be releasing to the public in October. The operation system was unveiled at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference last June.
It is rumored that the update will be released during or just after an Apple special event on Oct. 21. It is also rumored that during the said event, the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will be launched.
There is no official confirmation from Apple yet, but the company previously stated that Mac users can expect OS X Yosemite by autumn.
In addition to this, an October release date for OS X Yosemite is likely to happen, since based on recent Apple release dates patterns, OS X Mavericks was also released along with the new iPads in an October event last year.
Since it was announced, many have been anticipating for the new version of OS X, which will reportedly feature new applications and a great design.
"Yosemite is the future of OS X with its incredible new design and amazing new apps, all engineered to work beautifully with iOS," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.
Similar to other Apple products, the new OS X will also provide a unique Apple experience.
"We engineer our platforms, services and devices together, so we are able to create a seamless experience for our users across all our products that is unparalleled in the industry. It's something only Apple can deliver," added Federighi.
Once released, the OS X Yosemite will be available for free to all Apple customers.
Meanwhile, Apple released its third public beta of the upcoming version of OS X on Sept. 15 to developers and registered Mac owners.
The update is available for registered developers who pay $99 annually for early access of unreleased software.
Apple is also offering a public OS X Beta program that allows non-developers to download and test the upcoming OS X Yosemite without charge.
