'Outlander' Season 3 Premiere Date, News: Jamie And Claire Set To Live Separately?

Separated by time, Claire and Jamie will try to live their lives away from each other in the new season of "Outlander." Starz has just released the official synopsis for season3, and it looks like it will pick up right after Claire time travels through the stones to go back to 1948.

According to the synopsis, Claire, who is already pregnant, struggles with the outcome of her reappearance in the past and its possible effects on her marriage with Frank, her first husband. Back to the 18th century, Jamie, the last man standing in the Battle of Culloden, suffers from the aftermath of the battle and the loss of Claire. Years pass and Jamie and Claire try their best to build their lives separate from and haunted by the memories of each other.

"Outlander" season 3 is largely based on the third "Outlander" novel of Diana Gabaldon titled "Voyager." Since the series is known for staying true to its source material, viewers can expect many of the most surprising events in the novel to also be reflected in the upcoming series.

In the book, Claire suffered emotionally while living her life with Frank, while Jamie had to deal with both physical hardships after enduring the war and losing his wife. Following the Battle of Culloden, Jamie was on the run for seven years and hid in a cave in Lallybrock. He was eventually imprisoned in Ardsmuir, where he met a man named Lord John Grey.

"Outlander" season 3 premieres in 2017 on Starz.
