‘Pokémon GO' News: Christmas Update Sorely Disappoints?

Although fans were anticipating the Christmas update for "Pokémon GO," they were quite disappointed with the news when Niantic only released some eggs for new baby monsters.

According to Bloomberg, Niantic's decision to release the baby monsters as eggs was a kick in the groin considering that users have to walk a few kilometers for the eggs to hatch; or they have to purchase incubators from the Pokémon store.

As the article described it, the news of the "Pokémon GO" Christmas update was like getting socks from Santa when you asked for a bike. Bloomberg also shared the study from medical journal BMJ concluding that the game did not really translate to better lifestyle for the users.

In fact, the study showed that only about 11 minutes of additional walking were recorded by
"Pokémon GO" users in the first week. That's still "half of the World Health Organization recommendation of 150 or more minutes weekly."

In related news, Niantic is working on an Apple Watch version of its "Pokémon GO" tracker.

The concept of the gadget is for the Apple Watch to show some information such as how much distance you need to cover in order to hatch the eggs, or how much XP you still need to acquire before going on the next level.

But then again rumors surfaced about Niantic cancelling the plan. However, a spokesperson for Apple told Gamespot that the Apple Watch version for "Pokémon GO" was not dropped from the company's list of projects. "We'll have more news soon," the spokesperson reportedly said.
