'Pokemon GO' Release Date News, Rumors: Field Testing Starts In Australia, New Zealand; New Details On Portals, Evolution, Gender
In line with the much anticipated "Pokemon GO" release, it has been revealed that Niantic is set to begin field testing in Australia and New Zealand. The said field testing has also uncovered new details on the mobile phone game, like Pokemon who have evolutions post Generation 1.
According to Niantic's blog, the company and The Pokemon Company invite its users to test "Pokemon GO" in Australia and New Zealand, instructing them to go to Pokemon GO Niantic Labs website to sign up.
People who are not in the aforementioned territories will not be able to access the said site. Instead, they will see a message from the "Pokemon GO" Development Team, saying that "This site is not available in your country. Please stay tuned for more information at Niantic Blog. Thank you for your interest in "Pokemon GO.""
While users in Australia and New Zealand can field test the game, Niantic clarified on its blog that sign up does not have 100 percent access to the field test. In addition, the "Pokemon GO" field test is set to provide users the chance to share premature feedback to enhance the "Pokemon GO" gaming experience.
According to The Silph Road from Reddit, field testers, or those players who were able to test the "Pokemon GO" beta, have revealed some details about the upcoming game based on their experience.
As per the testers, 30 to 50 percent of the ingress portals were changed into Pokestops, which are points in rural areas that act as item portals that enable players to obtain rare items depending on their luck.
It was previously revealed that Pokemon from Generation 1 are set to evolve through evolution shard counts. With regard Pokemon that evolve in later generations, namely, Chansey, Lickitung, Onyx, Porygon, Magmar, Scyther, Tangela, Electabuzz, Golbat, Magneton, Rhydon, and Seadra, none of them currently have a shard count.
In the game consoles, players can change their gender and appearance when they reboot the game. In "Pokemon GO," however, players remain with the avatar they set up at the start of the game.
Set to be played on Android and iOS platforms, the exact "Pokemon GO" release date is yet to be revealed. Watch the game trailer here.
