Pokemon X and Y News: Pokemon Video Game and Trading Card Game Winter Regional Championships Use XY as Official Games
Pokemon X and Y will be included in this year's Pokemon Video Game and Trading Card Game Winter Regional Championships for the first time.
The event will be happening across the country and is open to anyone with a either a 3DS or 2DS, and/or the trading cards.
"The Pokémon Winter Regionals will be held on the weekends of January 11th, 18th, and 25th, 2014, with TCG events typically beginning on Saturday and video game events on Sunday. Check event listings for details," the official website reads.

"Top finishers get booster packs, trophies, and a huge step toward earning a National Championships Travel Award or Stipend from a pool of nearly $200,000 in travel allowances!" the site reads.
These Pokemon tournaments have been going on since the game's inception in the late 90s.
Pokemon X and Y is getting its own anime series in English on the Cartoon Network January 18, making the jump from its release in Japan in October.
"Pokemon the Series XY" will be the fifth rendition of the popular anime cartoon since its debut in the late 90s, reports Bulbapedia. The show was first demoed back on October 19 2013 as a sneak peek when the first two episodes were previewed.
The series protagonist, Ash Ketchum, will be returning with his trusty side kick Pikachu to explore the Kalos region of his world. The trio of Team Rocket bad guys, Jessie, James, and Meowth will be returning as well.
"It's time for Ash and Pikachu to set off on their adventures in the Kalos region! Along the way, they're joined by some new friends"”a genius inventor named Clemont, his little sister Bonnie, and Serena, a Trainer on her first journey.
