'Pokken Tournament' News Update: Water And Steel Type Fighter Playable In Arcade Version Starting Dec. 15

A new fighter is set to join the "Pokkem Tournament," but it will only be available in the arcade version of the game. The new character, named Empoleon, was unveiled in the new trailer for the game and seems to specialize in water type attacks.

The Pokemon is known as the final evolution of Piplip, which is part of the fourth generation starters. Also, the Sinnoh region starter Pokemon is a water and steel type. Considering his nature, fans of the game can expect Empoleon to unleash attacks that are a mix of the two element types.

The trailer for the game shows that Empoleon is capable of freezing the stages of "Pokken Tournament," allowing the character to move while the rest are immobile. According to reports, freezing the arena also allows the Pokemon to shift from on attack property to another. He is also capable of carrying out moves such as Drill Peck, Aqua Jet, Steel Wing and Ice Beam.

Aside from Empoleon, other new fighters that are featured in the new trailer for "Pokken Tournament" are Scizor and Darkrai. Scizor is a bug and steel type, while Dakrai is a dark type and is one of the franchise's most popular legendary creatures.

In other news, Meloetta is now available in the sixth generation titles of the Pokemon franchise, namely, "Pokemon X," "Pokemon Y," "Pokemon Omega Ruby" and "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire."

Empoleon will be playable in the arcade version of the game in Japan starting December 15.
