'Prey' News: Bethesda’s Pete Hines Leaks Reason Behind The Game’s Title
In line with Arkane Studios' "Prey," Bethesda head Pete Hines explained why the game's title is similar to the original game.
In his interview with Metro UK, Hines was asked about reusing the "Prey" name, whether it was because they wanted people to remember the first game or it was a cool-sounding name.
Hines said that they had looked at calling the game any number of other things, adding that they had come up with a number of names and where they had netted out had been that they had liked the name and that Arkane Studios had felt that it had been a good fit for the game that they had been making.
However, Hines said that the studio's concern was they did not want to be beholden in deisgn choices that they had been doing to anything from the original game. He said that with the idea of aliens hunting the characters, they should call it "Prey," as that suited the "vibe" and "tone" of the thing they had been doing. As a result, they agreed to call it "Prey."
In other "Prey" news, Hines also spoke his thoughts on why "Prey 2" was cancelled. In the same interview, he said that they were in the business of making games and they were only going to put out and make games that they though raise to a certain level of quality. As per Games Radar, "Prey 2" might have the same fate with "Doom 4," as the game was cancelled and brought back with a new vision.
"Prey" is set to be released for Xbox One, Micrsoft Windows, and PlayStation 4 in 2017.
