"Prisoners" Movie 2013 Review SPOILERS: Impressive Cast Carries Old School Thriller [VIDEO] [TRAILER]
"Prisoners" hit theaters to a lot of positive critical and commercial reviews. Audiences made it clear with their wallet that they wanted to see this movie by buying 45 million dollars worth of tickets in its first week. Critics have reviewed the movie, so here are some spoilers from the reviews. First, check out this teaser trailer if you haven't seen the movie yet!
Although this movie is insightful and clever, it doesn't challenge the viewers' intellect in a truly profound way. The movie plot dances around for two and a half hours and builds a lot of suspense for a very small payoff. The positive points are that the acting is superb and the characters work extremely well together. The movie takes a major turn when Jackman and Gyllenhaal's daughters get abducted and the main suspect turns out to be innocent. Jackman kidnaps the suspect (Paul Dano) and tortures him into telling the "truth." The film wants the audience to take the "what would you do if it was your kids" view, but it comes up somewhat short and makes the torture scenes seem hollow.
The backbone of the film is strong but it beats around the bush too much to be a solid fall drama. Here is another teaser trailer for "Prisoners!"
