Ryan and Alex's breakup looms in "Quantico" season 2, episode 8.

In the previous episode, Ryan thought he had to torture his teachers, but Alex felt the other way around. In the end, things worked out in Ryan's favor when he was recruited by the AIC. However, it looks like professional success will take its toll in his personal life as the series approaches its midseason finale.

The synopsis for episode 8 reads, "At the farm, Lydia and Owen teach the group about the necessity of lying and cutting off relationships. Perfect timing for Alex, since she is feeling disconnected from Ryan personally and professionally."

The preview for the episode reveals that Alex has decided to trust Dayana, Harry, Leon and Sebastian, who are equally trained liars, without even considering the possibility that any of them could be a terrorist.

"In the future, Alex and company attempt to destroy the biological weapon," the synopsis reads.

The promo video for episode 8 also teases a shocking betrayal.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, showrunner Joshua Safran revealed some details about the midseason finale. The showrunner revealed that they had to cut a storyline with Raina and Nimah and put the scenes back after the election.

"Beth, Cam and I all woke up the morning after the election--it feels like a year has gone by since it happened--and we all independently had the thought, 'Why did we cut that story?"' said Safran.

"It's very much about what's wrong with this country right now and it was a very powerful scene to film and to write. Yasmine saved the day. That's all I can say right now. I've never put something back into a show this close to air," he added.

"Quantico" season 2, episode 8 airs on November 27 on ABC.
