Reign Season 1 Episode 2 "Snakes in the Garden" is set to premiere tonight at 9 PM ET on The CW.

According to the trailer preview, it looks like Simon [Luke Roberts] reveals to Mary [Adelaide Kane] that the English know about her "secret" fiancé Francis [Toby Regbo] so the two decide to play off their romance and pretend not to be involved.

Meanwhile, Queen Catherine [Megan Follows] finds out that there is still one person alive that knows about her plan to kill Mary. She spares no expense on hunting down the last remaining person who could foil her plot.

Show summary:

Hidden between the lines of the history books is the story of Mary Stuart, the young woman the world would come to know as Mary, Queen of Scots. The teenage Mary is already a headstrong monarch ? beautiful, passionate and poised at the very beginning of her tumultuous rise to power.

Arriving in France, Mary is sent to marry the Prince Francis of France, securing a strategic alliance for Scotland against neighboring empire, England. The marriage has yet to be official, but there is definitely romance between the two.

Eventually Francis' half-brother develops feelings for the fiery Scot, further complicating the intended marriage. Francis' mother, Queen Catherine, is not smitten by Mary. Instead she sees her effect on her sons as a threat and seeks guidance from her seer advisor, Nostradamus. He tells Catherine of a prophecy that sums up to Francis not surviving if he makes Mary his bride. In an effort to save her son, the Queen plots to destroy Mary.
