Resident Evil 7 VR Release Date, Trailer: Game Going To Be Exclusive For One Year
Capcom's "Resident Evil 7" is set to be exclusive to the PlayStation VR for a year, as per reports.
On Oct. 2, Reddit user Xx-MCXCVI-xX posted on the forum website a photo of the game's cover, which was reportedly seen on a PlayStation VR advert on Facebook. The upper right part of the photo contains the PlayStation symbols and says "PlayStation VR exclusive." On the other hand, the bottom left portion of the image says "Resident Evil 7 BIOHAZARD coming in 2017 and exclusive to PlayStation VR for 12 months.
According to IGN, such exclusivity is only applicable to the game's VR version. As per the publication, players who want to play the game version will still be able to do it on PC and Xbox One. It is added that the exclusivity will conclude when Microsoft launches it Xbox Scorpio console, as Xbox head Phil Spencer previously revealed that the console is set to feature the VR technology.
"When we went out and talked to VR developers, the capability and the hardware spec that they needed to deliver a console-like experience to VR had been a requirement of 6 teraflops, which today's consoles did not have," Spencer said.
Capcom has not confirmed the VR experience for "Resident Evil 7," according to Game Spot. As per the publication, the company has already been contacted for a statement. It is added that the studio launched the VR-supported Beginning Hour demo for the game during the E3 2016 event. This part serves as an independent prologue to the main game, so it will not be part of the final "Resident Evil 7" experience.
"Resident Evil 7" is set to be released for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 4 on Jan. 24, 2017. Watch the trailer below.
