New details on the release date of Capcom's upcoming CG movie "Resident Evil: Vendetta" have surfaced.

Capcom's complete CG animation movie "Resident Evil: Vendetta" is set to be released in Japan in the spring of 2017, Variety has learned. As per the publication, the news was announced at the Tokyo Game Show, where fans were shown clips and images from the film.

"Vendetta" centers on zombies and creatures formed through a mysterious virus, along with their interaction with the human race. The characters include "Resident Evil 4's" Leon S. Kennedy, "Resident Evil 5's" Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers.

As per Anime News Network, the film takes place at an isolated mansion, with a scene that features Kennedy riding an Italian Ducati motorcycle, the XDiavel.

"Ultraman X" and "Hard Revenge Milly" director Takanori Tsujimoto is set to helm the film while "Psycho-Pass" write Maoto Fukami is on board to pen the screenplay. The film is set to be executively produced by "Grudge" series producer Takashi Shimizu, along with "Resident Evil" game developer Hiroyuki Kobayashi as the film's executive supervisor.

In line with the "Resident Evil" franchise, a live-action film titled "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," which stars Milla Jovovich and is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, is slated to be released in Japanese theaters on Dec. 23. The film is set to premiere in North American theaters on Jan. 27, together with the release of the new "Resident Evil 7" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
