Rihanna Dead 2013 RUMOR: Death Hoax Kills Another Celebrity on Facebook and Twitter [VIDEO]
The latest celebrity who has been killed off by a Facebook death hoax is Rihanna. Rumors surrounding her death started on a Facebook page titled "R.I.P. Rihanna" which gave this as the page description: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (September 25, 2013), our beloved singer Rihanna passed away. Rihanna was born on February 20, 1988 in Saint Michael. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting and liking this page."
So far, the page has received over a million likes because of the Rihanna death hoax rumor. The truth is that Rihanna is alive and well, just like all of the other celebrities who have been the victims of death hoaxes in 2013. Her representatives said, "She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."
The reason why these death hoaxes are so common is that the Facebook pages that are created to perpetuate them can be sold afterwards for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Any fan page that has over a million likes is worth a lot of money and is a hot commodity in the digital age.
Most people, however, find these death hoaxes to be disgusting. Fans claim that the fake report was reckless and distressing and believe that the perpetrators should be punished.
