Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Compensation News, Update & Rumors: How About A Discounted Note 8?

South Koreans demand more compensation for destroyed Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and now news and rumors are coming out about the company offering Galaxy Note 8 at discounted rates to appease their customers.

A report from UK's Independent said a class-action lawsuit was filed against the company from 527 Samsung Galaxy Note 7 customers who are demanding compensation of 500,000 won. According to them, they lost time and effort when their units got recalled or when they had to bring the smart phones back to the dealer.

Ko Young-yeel, of Harvest Law firm, said they are looking at filing compensation claims for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 every month.

"We are filing a lawsuit not to ask for hundreds of millions of won in punitive damages like in the United States," he said.. "We are demanding fair compensation for the simple damage that consumers have suffered."

Now, Yahoo confirmed the rumors about the South Korean company reportedly offering the Note 8 as compensation for those affected Samsung Galaxy Note 7 customers.

The company actually made the announcement about those who want to replace their Note 7 with the Galaxy S8 or Note 8 when they come out next year. But what about in the interim? Well, they can replace their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with either the S7 or S7 Edge for free. When they swap that for the S8, they can get a 50% discount.

Whether, that would appease customers demanding compensation for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is another matter altogether.
