Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Recall Update News: Samsung Will Announce Result Of Investigation On Exploding Note 7
Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is currently working towards finding the reason behind the explosions of its Galaxy Note 7, and will reportedly announce the final result of the investigation by the end of the year.
Since the company posted a 96% plunge in its third quarter earnings last month, Samsung has been operating in full damage control mode. Part of this operation is the investigation of why the batteries of some of its products explode.
The initial round of investigation kicked off earlier in November. The explosions were initially linked to faulty batteries; However, the tech company wants to figure out what other factors might have led to the flare-ups.
Since the tablet was launched in August, over 4.2 million units of Galaxy Note 7 have been sold globally. However, reports of exploding batteries led to a recall and the complete discontinuation of the device in October.
"We are considering all possibilities to find out the exact cause of the accidents," said a Samsung official to The Investor.
According to Samsung, the findings of this new investigation will decide whether the products can still be re-used or not. Also, Samsung users will know if the incident would have an impact on the scheduled launch of the Galaxy S8 next year.
According to reports, the result of the investigation will also determine if "head will roll" at the company, considering Samsung chief executive Kwon Oh-Hyun's previous statement that the tech giant would only assume responsibility once the crisis has already been resolved.
