The unexpected success of the Samsung Galaxy phone series took consumers and developers by surprise. While the flagship phone, the Galaxy S4 was arguably this year's most talked about smartphone of the year; the next installment in the series, the Galaxy Note 3 is also generating a lot of hype. Samsung has already posted the Note 3 on it's website, but is still months away from launching.

In case you don't know too much about either phone, here's a break down of the specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3:

First and foremost, you can't have a car without an engine. The same goes for a smartphone and a processor. The Galaxy S4 runs on the industry leading Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz.

The Note 3 is expected to boost the specs a little. Some believe the Note 3 could feature an Exynos 5 Octa Core. Now word on the processing speed, but 8 cores is better than 4.

The Galaxy S4 features 2GB RAM, while the Note 3 go as far as 3GB RAM.

Its no surprise the Note 3 will have a more "phablet" friendly display size than the Galaxy S4. Both feature HD Super AMOLED screens. However the Note 3 could be as large as 5.99-inches.

As for other features, the Galaxy S4 boasts a 13 megapixel camera while many believe the Note 3 will only manage an 8 megapixel camera. However some reports claim the Note 3 will have an S Pen. The Note 3 will supposedly have the same Air View feature as the Note 2, only now users will need an S Pen styles to control it.
