Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs, Features: Top Contender to Apple's iPhone 6 Plus?

The unveiling of iPhone 6, Apple Watch, and Apple Pay at the recent Apple Keynote Conference Launch last September 9 has Apple users electrified. This leaves Android fans looking toward the upcoming release of Samsung Galaxy S6, which is expected to compete head to head with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

What's more is that Samsung's new Galaxy S6 model will supposedly contend with Apple's flagship not only in design but in overall performance as well.

Samsung's release of Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 provided some hints on how the Korean tech giant envisions its newest top of the line smartphone. First off, Samsung finally deviated from the typical plastic casing seen with the entire S series lineup with Galaxy Alpha's metal enclosure. With that, Galaxy S6 is predicted to be packaged in metal casing with smaller bezel and a larger screen. This suggests a more solid feel and sturdier back support for the phone.

According to Expert Reviews UK, Samsung Galaxy S6 will be boasting a super AMOLED screen packed with 4K 1440 x 2560 resolution graphics. The smartphone will be running on either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 810 64-bit processors, which should support bolder and crisper images as well as high quality video playback and gaming.

The Galaxy S6 is also the flagship phone to carry Google's new Android L as the operating system.

Speaking of the camera, Samsung is allegedly planning to release a 20-megapixel rear shooter, which is better than S5's 16 megapixels. It is also reported that its battery will be increased in efficiency by 30 percent, thanks to a brand new operating system and a topnotch processor.

Samsung has not yet made any official announcements pertaining to Galaxy S6's specs and features probably because the device is still subject to change. Following Samsung's pattern of S series releases, Samsung is most likely going to unveil Galaxy S6 by the first quarter of April 2015.
