Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, Specs, Price News: Launch Date Further Pushed Back?

The Samsung Galaxy S8 release date is in danger of being delayed once again as rumors are filtering in about engineers being reassigned to other projects.

Apparently, according to Wall Street Journal, production has been hampered when two engineers were directed to find answers on the exploding batteries of the Note 7. In this vein, Samsung Galaxy S8 release date will be pushed back two weeks.

The article's source is reported a member of the development team for the new device.

There were multiple rumors which pointed out about the South Korean company further enhancing its Edge technology, which will be showcased on the S8. Reportedly, Samsung is planning to make the Edge the standard for its higher end phones.

As to the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the rumors point to the following features:

- 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display for standard phone (6.2-inch 4K display for the S8 Plus)

- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895

- Android 7.1 Nougat

- 6GB or 8GB RAM

- Adreno 540/ARM Mali-G71 GPU

- USB-C with support for digital audio

There were also rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S8 being equipped with Harman stereo speakers. The talks started when the company acquired Harman for $8 billion. However, considering that the acquisition is fairly new, it's not likely that this technology will be featured in next year's smart phone.

For the price, it's rumored that it will range from $650 to as much as $800.

If the report is true, that means Samsung may be cutting it close if it's going to announce the Samsung Galaxy S8 release date during the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, which is scheduled on Feb. 27 to March 2.
