Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 vs Moto 360 Review, Comparison: Smartwatch Stiff Competition to New Gear 2
While Motorola has yet to release Moto 360, it is already being compared to the recently released Samsung Galaxy Gear 2. In fact, even before its launch, Moto 360 has drawn plenty of attraction owing to its unusual round shape. It may be said, the Moto 360 is already posing a threat for the Samsung smartwatch on the market.
Additionally, the features of Moto 360, which have already been revealed, are taking smartwatch technology in an entirely different direction.
As far as the Galaxy Gear 2 is concerned, it contains nearly all the features of any smartphone, users can take photos and make phone calls. It also incorporates additional features such as a pedometer, heart rate monitor and quite a few other exercise apps.
Similar to other smartwatches on the market, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 comes with a normal rectangular face as all the other smartwatches, whereas the Moto 360 has a round face, which is entirely new to the market. Furthermore, Motorola will use Sapphire glass, instead of the Gorilla glass which is predominately used. In fact, the Sapphire glass is four-fold stronger than the Gorilla glass, thereby protecting the smartwatch from scratches, but increasing the device's price as well.
There are other dissimilarities between the two smartwatches, such as their different operating systems. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 runs on the Trizen OS replacing Samsung's previous version of Android. It is being speculated that the Moto 360 will be operating on an Android OS platform. In addition, the Moto 360 will incorporate a wireless charging system, a feature not present in many smartwatches.
Since Motorola is yet to disclose many of the device's specs, it is not sure whether it will beat the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, but as far as its features are concerned, the Moto 360 has plenty to offer. It is apparent that even though the Moto 360 has not yet been released, it already poses a threat to smartwatches on the market.
