Olivia Pope returns to Washington on the Season 6 premiere of 'Scandal' only to be welcomed by Jerry Harrison's death. In Episode 1 titled "Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia," Kerry Washington's character had to leave Jake behind 100 miles off the coast of Zanzibar after two months of hibernation.

Fans should know that she meets with Pope & Associates realizing that the group has already disbanded.

Olivia's return became an opportunity to talk to her father, Rowan. Of course, Pope had an inkling that Joe Morton has something to do with her friend's death, though the latter denied it. Morton, however, said that he has taken responsibility of Maya, her mother.

This brought the puzzle together that Khandi Alexander, who plays the role of Olivia's mother, is not actually dead, but was hidden inside the B613 headquarters. The more interesting question would be, how would Olivia take the fact that Maya who she loathes, is still alive?

Meanwhile, Mellie (Bellamy Young) is the not the same collected and poised woman that viewers have come to know. This time, her struggle, knowing that her husband Fitz had an affair with Olivia, turned her into the uncaring wife which worsened after the death of her son. Toward the latter part of the episode, Mellie revealed that she knew Fitz attempted suicide following Olivia and Jake's disappearance.

As for Olivia, she decided to stay in Washington indefinitely until Pope & Associates puts the pieces back together, but evidently she's not going to change for Fitz.
