The Scoop: New England Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Attempts to Beat a Murder Case! Video News Coverage
Former New England Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez was indicted today, Thursday, August 22, 2013 on charges for first-degree murder and weapons. Hernandez is believed to be the shooter of a twenty-seven year old semi-professional football player by the name of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez had a quick court appearance this afternoon in Attleboro where his attorney Michael Fee said defense is on a path to making this a jury trial and will be testing the prosecution's evidence. Hernandez pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and weapons this past June.
Bristol County grand jury indicted and formed cases on two other possible suspects in relation to the murder. Ernest Wallace is charged with accessory after the fact and Tanya Singleton with criminal contempt after giving a false testimony to the grand jury.
Prosecutors say Hernandez planned Lloyd's murder because he was upset at him for talking to people Hernandez had a confrontation with at a nightclub days earlier. They say Hernandez, Wallace and another associate, Carlos Ortiz, picked Lloyd up at his home in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood early on June 17 and then drove to the industrial park. Lloyd was then shot multiple times by Hernandez and his body was found later by a jogger in a North Attleborough Industrial Park.
Coincidently the industrial park happens to be almost a mile near Hernandez's home. Last summer Hernandez signed a contract with the Patriots for forty million dollars, but was quickly cut hours stemming his arrest and police wheeling him outside of his home to jail as cameras watched on June 26, 2013.
Hernandez is facing life in prison if convicted. Unfortunately he is also being accused of a previous shooting where a man was shot in the face. Alexander Bradley, the accuser said he argued with Hernandez at a Miami strip club and was shot in the face where he lost an eye, but during the incident Bradley told police he didn't know who had shot him at the time.
