'Sherlock' Season 3 Release Date October 31, 2013 / Amanda Abbington Joins BBC Cast as Watson's Wife

Sherlock fans never fear! The show is about to air Season 3. When is the official release date for new episodes? October 31, 2013 of course!

Oh and guess what? The show has been picked up for a couple more seasons!

Sherlock and Star Trek star Benedict Cumberbatch spilled the beans about the BBC show's future.

"We've agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that," revealed Cumberbatch when asked about a fourth season. "All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three."

As for spoilers for Sherlock Season 3, we know a few details. First and foremost, Mary Moirstan will be introduced. Fans of the books know that Watson marries Mary eventually. So it looks like Watson finally found the love of his life. In a twist too fitting for Sherlock, Martin Freeman's real life girlfriend Amanda Abbington will be taking on the part.

Abbington says approaching the role was a little intimidating:

"...He's so good at his job. And he and [Benedict Cumberbatch] have this fantastic chemistry," says Abbington. "Coming into 'Sherlock' you have to up your game, 'cause they're so good together."
