LiveScribe 3 Smart Pen Now Available in the UK: Will the Smart Pen Make its Debut in America?

The LiveScreibe 3 smart pen just hit the shelves in the UK just in time for Christmas. The smart pen is used to take notes on a tablet or smart phone and then the notes are transcribed into the app that goes along with the smart pen.

The smart pen is hoping to capitalize on the demographic of people who still need to take notes by hand instead of typing notes into a computer or tablet. For example, if you are a student in a class and need to draw a graph or visual aid, the smart pen makes it easy for you to share the notes with classmates or upload them to your computer or tablet.

The LiveScribe 3 smart pen comes in two different versions, the standard version for 129 pounds or the pro version for 169 pounds. The difference between the two versions is that the pro version offers a leather portfolio and a year subscription to Evernote Premium.

The main problem that critics have with the LiveScribe 3 is the final step that allows you to send your writing to the app that comes along with it. The smart pen communicates with your phone, tablet or computer via Bluetooth, but often times the software doesn't work the way it should. The hardware is excellent, according to reviewers of the smart pen, but the software is buggy and inefficient.
