'Son of God' Actor Diogo Morgado Draws More Questions About his 'Sex Appeal' Than Message of the Movie (VIDEO)
Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado has been making the rounds promoting the highly anticipated film "Son of God." Morgado is adamant about spreading the message that he acts out in the film of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but is being confronted by the media to discuss his sex appeal instead.
To his noticeable surprise the actor is being met with questions about women, along with headlines that read, "Meet the Hunk Who Portrays Son of God," and is being portrayed as a sex symbol all while he is on his Son of God promotional tour.
The Bible epic is the first major feature for the actor outside of his roles for Portuguese television. In a recent sit down interview with ET's Nancy O'Dell to discuss the film that she foretells could be up for "an Oscar."
"There's a whole generation that doesn't know about the Bible and Jesus...It's a story that deserves to be in the big screen," Morgado said when passionately describing his excitement for the film hitting theaters.
After discussing the film a bit the interview switched gears and the 34-year-old actor was questioned about himself. "You have become an international sex symbol because of this huge role," O'Dell says.
To which he responds, "that's not true" but she insists that it is true even going as far as saying that "Jesus would not lie." Her next question for Morgado is about the ladies, and wants to know what his craziest experience with a fan desiring his attention has been. The actor responds again with no fuel to spark controversy, "Pretty decent and calm, it's ok."
Margado leaving the reporter in disbelief after she insists that he again cannot be telling the truth goes on to say, "I'm a really discreet guy, so I put my cap on and I will go to grocery stores, and nobody notices me."
Producers Mark Burnett and wife Roma Downey brought The Bible five-part miniseries to television last year and because of the phenomenal record-breaking ratings, the power couple decided to bring it back but this time to the big screen.
The last time audiences saw the story of Jesus was in the Cinema was The Passion of the Christ a decade ago, and that was about the last three days of his life. Not since 1965's The Greatest Story Ever Told has the story of his full life been shared, until now.
