'Sons of Anarchy' Season 6 Spoilers: Show Creator Talks Tara's Death and Future of Jax. New Episodes Premiere Fall 2014?

Fans of the wildly popular FX series said goodbye Tuesday night to Tara [Maggie Siff]. Tara's character always put her children before her own interest, even if that mean sacrificing Jax. With one season of Anarchy left, what will the consequences be for Gemma [Katey Sagal] for killing her own daughter in law?

Series creator say Tara's death will leave Jax without a compass back to familiar territory.

"I wanted to remove his true north for that last season ... I feel like there needs to be, for someone like Jax, there needs to be this major psychic and emotional shift that has to happen," he explains. "What happens to a guy like that now that he's lost both people he loves the most and that centers him the most."

Tara's death came as no surprise to the writers who planned on killing her off as early as Season 2 but ended up saving it for the penultimate season finale.

Siff says she knew pretty early on that her character was getting the boot but didn't anticipate how difficult it would be to watch her character die.

"Watching it was really hard," she says. "Watching it put into the story, in the context of the entire series and everything we've all been through together, that was hard. That was more difficult than I expected."

Though confident in the writing for the show, Sutter admits a big part in transforming these female characters has to do with Siff and Sagal.

"These two actress have managed to turn a 5 or 6 on the page into an 8 or 9 or 10 on the screen," he confesses. "I want to thank [Maggie] for making me a better writer for these last six seasons."

Sons of Anarchy Season 7 is rumored to premiere fall 2014.
