Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" Heads to Broadway

Film director, actor, and producer Spike Lee has plans to give his classic film Do The Right Thing a Broadway treatment.  Do The Right Thing was released in 1989 and centered on the racial tensions brewing in Brooklyn, New York.

The film starred Lee as Mookie, Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, Rosie Perez and Ruby Dee and earned Lee several Oscar nominations.

Lee recently did an interview with Vulture, where he discussed his plans to take the film to Broadway saying,

"I'm working on it now, so hopefully it'll come to fruition. We're in serious talks, but it's still very early. I think it'll take about a year. I'm not going to put a date on it, but it's not going to be "years" with a "s" on it."

Lee went on to direct films such as, Inside Man, 25TH Hour, Malcolm X, He Got Game, Bamboozled, Jungle Fever are to name a few. Lee also filmed the 2009 Broadway musical production Passing Strange.
