'Star Wars 7' Music Composer John Williams: J.J. Abrams Reveals He Preferred an Original Entertainment
Composer John Williams reveals that he is happy and willing to score Star Wars 7. Episode VII will come out in 2015, with some original cast members getting in some reprisal roles in the new film.
In what looks like a bonus franchise for the upcoming Star Wars, and an extra bonus for director J.J. Abrams, Abrams told Conan O'Brien last week that he would add one of his infamous "Easter Eggs" in the new Star Wars film.
TBS's "Conan" host O'Brien said, "Years ago when I worked for The Simpsons, I put Jub Jub into a Simpsons' episode. And so I know that if I ask you, because we're very close, I think you're closer to me than anyone in the world. I know that if I ask you, you'll put Jub Jub into a Star Wars movie. I know you'll get it in somehow."
Abrams interrupted the host saying, "Done." The two even shook hands to seal the deal.
O'Brien added, "What's going to happen is people are going to see that. You're a nice guy, you're going to say 'Yes,' and then the Star Wars movies will make no sense."
J.J. Abrams confirmed, "If and when I'm directing Star Wars, Jub Jub will somehow find its way in."
John Williams has created an incredible amount of iconic music and notable themes to Star Wars.
When asked about his return to the franchise, the 81-year-old composer said, "We've certainly talked about that, and I'm happy and willing to do it. JJ Abrams, who will be the director, seems excited about the idea. I have to say that JJ is a much younger man than I, but I will try to keep up with him as much as I can!"
The living legend continued: "We now have the benefit of all this computer simulation and technical work that wasn't even possible 20 or 25 years ago. I don't know how hands-on George Lucas will be - I suspect he will be to some degree - but I can only imagine how excited he must be, to have a director like JJ have all these tools at his fingertips to produce something even more adventurous technologically. I can't wait to see what he will do with it."
