Star Wars Battlefront 3 Update, Rumors: Latest News Reveals Developers Found Task of Creating New Game Daunting

A DICE Games team member has admitted that the company was originally intimidated by the prospect of taking on the sequel to the revered series, Star Wars: Battlefront. Does the Swedish based company have what it takes to provide a respectable title in the Battlefront line?

Previously, fans were worried that there would be an indefinite delay of the title due to the diversion of resources of DICE Stolkholm to cleaning up some of the buggy patches of Battlefield 4.

During that time the full efforts of the studio were not on the development of the germinating sci-fi title. After a long hiatus, however, it seems like the show is back on the road.

Patrick Bach, the Executive Producer of the game, made a few passing remarks recently at a BAFTA event in London, as reported by IGN. He included a description on how DICE ended up receiving the license for Star Wars Battlefront: III:

"For some strange reason--coincidence, I don't know--we had a discussion at the office about what happened to Battlefront. You know, the old IP that someone else made that was a rip-off of Battlefield... For some reason, EA was negotiating with Lucas/Disney, as to whom should make the new Star Wars games. And just a week later it was like, 'Oh, by the way, that discussion you were having about Star Wars? Do you want to make it?'"

Despite the previous, unofficial discussion about making a sequel, developers at the studio found the prospect daunting:

"We weren't as cocky when we got the chance, because to take on something like this is scary, as you can imagine. You can only screw up, right?"

Battlefront III will be likely to be released in 2015. Bach has professed that the company will be doing the best it can to make good on this title, and will be "hard at work to figure this one out," until then.
