Star Wars Episode VII Cast Rumors: Dame Judi Dench to Play Mon Mothma?
79-year old actress Dame Judi Dench is now rumored to be playing the Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma, the character who helped organize the assault against the Evil Empire's second Death Star in George Lucas' Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi, according to Big Shiny Robot.
Since the announcement of the first Star Wars film returning to theaters since the Revenge of the Sith movie in 2005, casting news and rumors have been trending across all entertainment and social media platforms.
"HINT: A nominee currently on the awards circuit (including tonight) is up for a major role in STAR WARS EPISODE VII. Who can it be?," tweeted a Latin Review writer on Twitter on Saturday.
Numerous groups of actors and actress have been allegedly associated with Star Wars Episode 7 including Benedict Cumberbach, Michael Fassbender, and Hugo Weaving to name a few.
However, J.J. Abrams has only just confirmed that he has been speaking with Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons, although the actor would not confirm the Star Wars rumor this past weekend.
"He is one of the actors that we've talked to but it's not often that I read about actors that I'm going to be meeting," said Star Wars writer and director JJ Abrams confirming the rumor in a NY Daily News report.
Star Wars Episode VII will be the first Star Wars film made by Lucas Films after Disney acquired the rights. The film is expected to feature the return of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), and Harrison Ford (Han Solo).
So far, the only character officially announced for the film is fan favorite droid R2-D2.
Star Wars Episode VII will make its long awaited return to the big screen on December 18 2015.
