Star Wars Han Solo Movie Cast, Release Date News: Spinoff Film Centers On How Smuggler Wins Millennium Falcon

The "Star Wars Han Solo" spinoff film is coming in two years and it will follow how the smuggler managed to win the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian.

The report was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter writer Borys Kit, who shared via Twitter that this would be one of the major plot points of the upcoming film. Fans of "Star Wars" have probably already assumed that this would be part of the story, since his ownership of the iconic spaceship is one of the major elements of the Solo character.

A report from Star Wars fiction claims that Solo won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian through the fictional card game known as Sabacc. While this has never been featured in any "Star Wars" movie before, it looks like it is going to be one of the changes fans should anticipate in the upcoming film.

"Star Wars Han Solo" will dig deeper into the formative years of the iconic character, who will be portrayed by "Hail, Caeser!" and "Stoker" actor Alden Ehrenreich.

Recently, Lucas Film also confirmed that the production has tapped Donald Glover to play Lando Calrissian.

Directed by "21 Jump Street" directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film is expected to start production in January 2017. Its story will be written by "Star Wars" veteran Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan.

Aside from the upcoming film, fans of "Star Wars" should also look forward to the next "Star Wars" film titled "Rogue One," which revolves around the story of rebels who attempt to take the plans to the Death Star.
