Steve Harvey & Pastor Corey Brooks Team Up to Find Mentors For Fatherless Young Men in Chicago
Best-selling author and comedian, Steve Harvey will be leading The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation in hosting a Steve Harvey Mentoring Campaign event at the New Beginnings Church of Chicago on November 14.
The event will help to recruit mentors for young men who come from fatherless homes. Harvey will be joined by New Beginnings Church Pastor Corey Brooks, who wants to put a stop to youth gang violence.
The event is said to feature a discussion panel about the issues faced in the community of the Chicago metro area. The mentor recruitment day will be followed up by going to Chicago State University from November 15-17 and host 100 young men in grades 8-12. All the young men who signed up to take part of the event will learn the principles of manhood and participate in educational and physical activities.
In the past year The Steve and Marjorie Foundation has hosted a similar event, which targeted 100 young men from single parent households in the Detroit metro area where they practices team building, physical fitness, and educational programs.
"With the opportunity to take part in a mentoring program focused on their future potential and dreams, these young men will walk away knowing that no dreams are too big and the tools to take charge of achieving them," Harvey said during an interview.
