'Stormblood' News Update: Square Enix File Trademark For Game; The Studio’s Next Game?

With Square Enix filing trademark for the game "Stormblood," it is now seen as the studio's next game, as per reports.

Square Enix Japan has trademarked "Stormblood," according to NeoGAF member Exentryk. The forum member also wrote on the site that Google search had not found an references; thus, it led him think that the game is one of the studio's new games.

The game was reportedly tweeted by @trademark_bot on Sept. 18. The text original text in the tweet are in Japanese characters; but when translated, they are read as "Classified [commericial hope 2016-95027] trademark: STORMBLOOD/ applicant co., Ltd. Square Enix/ filinf date: 8/30/2106/ :9(decorative magnets etc), 16 (office or household glue and glue other), 28 (amusement machinery and equipment, and their parts thereof other), 41 (art.)

In line with the game, it gathered speculations from the other forum members. According to Mediking, it was a mobile game, asking its release date while hoping that it was a new series for a console or handheld.

Another NeoGAF member, Kyofu wrote on the side that the game could be another "Final Fantasy XV (FFXV)" side game. User legendaryskitch echoed his idea, mentioning that "Stormblood" was like the next "FFXIV" expansion.

According to PC Games N, Square Enix has been more successful on the PC in the previous years, secondary to securing of wester-facing publisher Eidos. As per the publication, while the studio is not a full-pledged PC studio, the game's development should not be put aside.

With such rumors following the game's trademark, Square Enix is yet to confirm and announce the details.
