'Super Nintendo World' News: Game Coming To Universal Studios; Japan Attraction To Cost $431M

The "Super Nintendo World will be coming to Universal Studios in Japan in 2020, and it's going to cost around 50 billion yen, or around $431 million, to build.

"Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo's most popular characters and games," the press release from Universal Studios Japan said, as reported by CNBC.

According to the report, the "Super Nintendo World" coming to Universal Studios will create 1.1 million jobs along with 11.7 trillion yen.

Neil Campling, an analyst at Northern Trust Capital Markets, told CNBC that the "Super Nintendo World" coming to Universal Studios is another instance when the company is looking to piggyback on the popularity of the games.

"I think you are seeing more effort to monetize these great franchises across multiple efforts," he said.

However, "Super Nintendo World will be coming to Universal Studios in Hollywood and Orlando, FL as well, the press release said.

"The creative visionaries behind Nintendo's legendary worlds and characters are working together with the creative teams behind Universal's blockbuster theme park attractions," the statement added. "Their goal: to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks."

The theme park will allow guests to feel as if they are inside the Super Mario game, for instance, and it promises something to do not just for kids but also for adults alike. The "Super Nintendo World" will be coming to Universal Studios Japan first before the theme parks in other places will follow.
