'Supergirl' Season 2 Premiere Date: Latest Trailer Reveals The City Of Gotham

The new trailer for "Supergirl" makes mention of the City of Gotham.

The trailer features "Teen Wolf's" Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel a.k.a. Superman, who will make an appearance in the series as Supergirl's superhero cousin. Towards the end of the minute-long video, the new character in National City speaks, "We're moving back to Gotham."

While the line could be just a throwaway line, fans of "Supergirl" speculate that those five words might mean that Supergirl will go batty in season 2.

According to executive producer Ali Adler, it was his idea to make reference to Gotham, which is Batman's home turf.

"We have this beautiful history with DC, and I like that we get to borrow from this amazing, wonderful canon that we have," said Adler.

That said, it looks like fans should not expect Batman to arrive in National City anytime soon.

"I feel like we have our hands full with the crossover we're shooting right now," added Adler, referring to the four-way crossover between "Supergirl," "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow."

"I think people will be satisfied with how much crossover they're getting this season," he said.

"Supergirl" season 2 will feature a Batman-centric guest, Maggie Sawyer. The character will be portrayed by Floriana Lima of "The Family" and is described in the DC comics lore as a lesbian cop who will serve as the new love interest of Batwoman.

The new season of "Supergirl" premieres on October 19, Monday, 8:00 P.M. on The CW.
