The Beatles Reunite at the Grammy Awards 2014; Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Perform Together 50 Years After British Invasion (VIDEO)
At yesterday's 56th annual Grammy Awards, the two surviving Beatles members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, reunited for the much-anticipated event.
"There will be no Beatles reunion as long as John Lennon remains dead," said the late Beatles member George Harrison in 1989 before he passed.
However, this year's Grammy Awards was the first time the former band members crossed paths.
In 2009, Starr was alongside McCartney for an event at Radio City Music Hall.
The following year, Paul united Ringo at a concert to celebrate Starr's 70th birthday. Previously, the duo had an interview with Larry King in 2007.
2014 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Beatles' first American appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." The music version of the British Invasion caused 73 million people to watch the historic event on CBS in February 1964.
Last night, Ringo was there when McCartney and his band performed song's from McCartney's latest album, NEW. The legendary front man also played the vintage "Magical Mystery Tour" piano. Two of Lennon's surviving family members, Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono, were shown dancing along with the rest of the audience.
McCartney's new song "Cut Me Some Slack," along with the surviving members of Nirvana from Dave Grohl's "Sound City" project, won the Grammy award for Best Rock Song, defeating the Rolling Stones, Muse, Black Sabbath, and Gary Clark Jr.
"I have to say that we wouldn't be here if it weren't for Paul and for Ringo," said Grohl after receiving the award at the ceremony.
Former Nirvana band member Krist Novoselic leaned over to the microphone and added to Grohl's previous comments, "and for Black Sabbath and the Rolling Stones."
