New Tamagotchi Toys Expected to Release in 2014: Will You Purchase a Reboot of an Old Electronic Favorite?

Bandai, the company that originally produced Tamagotchis 17 years ago, announced that they would be releasing a new version of the old favorite sometime in 2014. The look of the Tamagotchi's is getting a big update from the older versions. The new creatures will be in full color instead of black and white and will be able to interact with other Tamagotchis in the area. The Tamagotchis will be able to go on playdates with other Tamagotchis and will be able to earn in-game points that can be exchanged for fancy meals and clothes.

Bandai also announced that they will be releasing a series of webisodes about the new Tamagotchis that will feature storylines about each of the different characters in the Tamagotchi world. The new look is designed to entice a new generation of children to play with and love the Tamagotchis that were so popular in the 90s.

If adults want to relive their Tamagotchi days, Bandai also released an app for Android and iOS that allows users to play the original Tamagotchi game for free on their smartphones.

The new Tamagotchi is targeted at users age 7-9 and allows gamers to raise one of 24 different creatures. The creatures must be cared for when they are sick, fed, exercised, and entertained. The new device will cost $20.

Will you be purchasing a Tamagotchi when they are released in the United States?
