'The Batman' Ben Affleck News: 'Batman' Ben Affleck's Batman Film Kicks Off Shooting Next Spring

Ben Affleck's "The Batman" standalone film is well on its way, as confirmed by actor and director Ben Affleck.

Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman also announced that the upcoming solo Batman movie would be released in 2018.

In Affleck's recent chat with Variety at a tastemakers screening at New York's Metrograph Theater on Tuesday, the actor was asked if he was looking to begin production on the movie next spring.

"We're on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We're still finishing up a script. I'm very excited," answered Affleck.

For the upcoming movie, fans will get to see Affleck donning the cape and cowl again after portraying the superhero in "Batman v Superman." However, the actor confessed that sometimes, he is tempted to not act. "Every day when I come to the set, I think it would be nicer if I could just direct this. But it was a really great part," he said.

Several films featuring the Gotham avenger were already released in the past, some good and some bad. Despite that, Affleck said he had nothing but praise for the directors and actors of previous "Batman" films.

"I respect all of those movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me," he shared.

"The Batman" movie is expected to be released sometime in 2018.
